LINUX, WINDOWS, BSD WHERE ARE THE SANE PEOPLE?

Image
BSD is obviously where the sane people are....  Well its been a while since we last had our "geek-talk" Lockdown is gone and its time to looks for cash. Let me start by saying that I don't mean that literally . What I'm talking about here is design and development decisions from the point of view of system administration and coding. Contrary to the Linux distributions the Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD) is not a fragmented project. The BSD projects maintain the entire operating system, not only the kernel. BSD was an operating system based on Research Unix, developed and distributed by the Computer Systems Research Group (CSRG) at the University of California, Berkeley. Today, "BSD" refers to its descendants, such as FreeBSD , OpenBSD, NetBSD and DragonFly BSD. These projects are real operating systems not just kernels and they are not "distributions". Linux distributions, such as Debian GNU/Linux and Arch Linux have to do the work ...

CYBER WARFARE

Image
CYBER WARFARE Cyberspace has become another important dimension of warfare, where countries can carry out conflicts without the clashes of traditional troops and machines . This allows countries with minimal military presence to be as strong as other nations in cyberspace. What is Cyber warfare? Cyber warfare is an Internet-based conflict that involves the penetration of computer systems and networks of other countries. These attackers have the resources and expertise to launch massive Internet-based attacks against other nations to cause damage or disrupt services, such as shutting down a power grid.   The question here is do you trust that your country is able to safeguard you from such attacks? If the government cannot defend against the cyber attacks, the citizens may lose confidence in the government’s ability to protect them. Cyber warfare can destabilize a nation, disrupt commerce, and affect the citizens’ faith in their government without ever physical...

Choosing the right team for your Network Upgrade

GETTING THE TEAM TOGETHER   Based on personal experience, no project runs on the ability of technical competencies alone . Communication plays a major role as well. Imagine a room full of highly capable individuals who are working on different elements of a product, but are unable to talk to each other about the integration requirements, clarify on conflicts and understand functional closure. This project will not succeed. There needs to be extra emphasis on identifying people who can communicate A as A and B as B The team that always nails it on such projects. WHERE IS THE MAGIC HERE?  1.Collocation   When you put your project team under a single roof, team bonding is the greatest benefactor. This will in turn improve the communication between team members and reduce friction. The project team has a greater chance of producing more and project success is more possible so if there is the slightest chance of putting your team together,do it espe...

CUTTING OUT THE CROSS TALK  The Unshielded solution It is hardly surprising that the question ‘shielded or unshielded?’ will inevitably come up when investment decisions for local data networks or structured office cabling are made. But that does not mean that a total transition from copper to shielded cabling is inevitable? If installed correctly, both shielded and unshielded technologies offer sufficient reserves for applications up to and including 10GbE. You can reach your goals with unshielded cabling, providing you make sure the conditions are right and you take care to select the right quality. As explained above, use of traditional unshielded cabling means distances between individual components need to be increased as much as possible. However, the latest generation of unshielded cables can, in fact, offer ANEXT reserves that were previously only possible with shielding. Choosing the best possible quality of unshielded cable is vital. If opting for...
